Tom Chaves is an NYC-based gaffer and founder of Mastershot Films, a company that provides G&E services to productions in New York.
Tom holds a B. A. in film production from CUNY Brooklyn College and has been working in lighting for 10+ years on commercials, documentaries, and corporate videos. After working with thousands of cinematographers, he has learned a lot about the importance of lighting and how to use it to effectively tell a story through light.
In addition to working on set, Tom enjoys teaching fellow-filmmakers on lighting techniques & the many tools & disciplines that go into effective visual story-telling.
Habib Awan studied International Communications at American University, and worked in the independent film scene in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area for four years before moving to NYC in 2014.
Originally focusing on cinematography, Habib became enamored with lighting and began focusing on gaffing. After nearly nine years working on shorts, commercials, and feature films, Habib joined the Mastershot team in late 2019.
Hallie Neely is a New Jersey native living in Brooklyn. Her background is in photography, having graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a BFA in photography and video. She’s since specialized as a lighting technician for Mastershot Films because she understands the importance of lighting to tell a story through images, still & moving. She has worked with countless cinematographers and applies her lighting skills into her personal photography work.
In addition to lighting, Hallie oversees the hiring & training of interns and junior lighting assistants at Mastershot Films.
